Background: Nigerian lawyer who practiced law for more than a decade in Nigeria. He came to the U.S. on an F-1 student visa to study environmental law. Post graduation, he obtained a prestigious fellowship in the environmental law field with a specific concentration in sustainability. Ultimately, we reviewed his qualifications and determined he could meet the criteria for the EB-2 category with a national interest waiver (NIW). However, because he was a student within the U.S. on an F-1 visa, his ability to work as a sustainability expert was limited. My work: Upon being retained, I refilled his application for a green card with additional supporting evidence of the circumstances behind his juvenile arrest and drafted a brief arguing his past juvenile record does not bar him from obtaining a green card. I also collected and submitted additional evidence of his good character and community ties to show that he deserved a favorable exercise of discretion by the immigration officer

Background: Child with some developmental delays and mental health conditions was abused extensively by father. The father was a leader in a criminal gang in Guatemala. The father also abused the client's mother, grandmother, and other siblings, even killing one of the young children. The client, being the oldest child in his family, was able to escape his small town and make his way to the United States
My work: I crafted arguments for a grant of asylum based on the particular social group of the father's family. Establishing the nuclear family as a particular social group for purposes of proving eligibility for asylum is a difficult task as the case law was very ambiguous at the time. I established a record of expert witnesses such as country condition experts and medical and mental health providers. I drafted compelling declarations from the client and the client's friends and family based on my interviews with each of these individuals
