Trump Gold Card Goes Live: Real-Time Updates on the Latest Visa Category

People can now apply for the Trump Gold Card. On December 10, President Trump announced that applications for the Gold Card are officially open.

According to the official Gold Card website, those who pay a $15,000 processing fee and a contribution of at least $1 million will receive permanent residence “in record time.” As of now, USCIS has not released official processing time data for the Trump Gold Card.

The portal also announced that the Trump Platinum Card would be launched soon, which would give holders the ability to reside in the U.S. for up to 270 days without the need to pay U.S. taxes on foreign income.

Gold Card Applicants may still wait several months before they can receive permanent residence

Jasveer Jabbal, senior immigration counsel at Manifest, notes that this isn’t an immediate pathway to a Green Card for most people. Instead, the Trump Gold Card could allow foreign nationals to join the first or second preference queues for permanent residence.

Depending on the country they’re from, Gold Card applicants could still wait a year or more before they can actually request permanent resident status. Congress has established per-country limitations on the number of Green Cards approved each year. Because there has been no change to the law, this restriction still applies.

This is a developing story. We will continue to update this article as more news comes out.
